STS Children Sample Policy
As you may know, a child named Polly Klaas was murdered in 1993. A list supplier sold her name to the assailant as part of a listed sample targeted toward children. As a result, the database industry has come under heavy fire for dissemination of children related information. Today, it is standard that all sampling companies must review the survey instrument prior to providing samples where children or other sensitive information is revealed.
STS requires the introduction and screening portion of marketing research studies where the sampling frame consists of data based upon sensitive information, such as presence of children, ailments, etc. Please understand that STS is under contractual obligation to guarantee that the questionnaire does not assume that the respondent has these specific sensitive qualities. All questionnaire data will remain in the strictest confidence and is used only for ensuring that sensitive information is properly protected.
